The donuts here are everything and more. Get there by 8:30a. It's worth any wait. And don't forget the other offerings like biscuits, fritters, & eclairs. I can't wait to go back. There are 2 order windows in front and one call ahead pickup window on the side.

So we were heading home from PCB one night, a lot later than planned, and I agreed to stopping at Chipotle for dinner, since I knew it would be quick and easy. The hubby was thrilled until we pulled into the turn lane and realized that it isn't even open for business yet, with its big "NOW HIRING" sign in the window that we could see from the highway. Of course, I could not have cared less, but we know of nothing decent between PCB and Fort Rucker and we weren't going to wait until we got home to eat. Found Thomas' Donut and Snack Shop on yelp, and it was not really in the direction we wanted to go. Since it seemed most places that were open are dine-in and it was a Saturday night, we decided to suck it up and give it a try. I found this place wonderful, just on appearance alone. There is something about a mom and pop business that has been around forever (sign says 50+ years at that location, I believe?) that makes my heart happy. I went with a cheeseburger and fries, while the hubby went with a shrimp sub-sandwich and a chocolate cake donut. While we waited outside, the smells coming from inside were pure torture. I had a difficult time not going back up to the window and ordering donuts and muffins to take home . Even if they had possibly been sitting in the window all day, they still looked delicious. After about 15 minutes, our food was ready, so we hopped back in the car and ate it on the way home. The cheeseburger and fries were decent. They were honestly nothing spectacular, and I couldn't tell whether the fries were pre-frozen or not, which I think is a good thing. Hubby's shrimp sub-sandwich was also good, though on the small side with the shrimp being breaded and deep-fried. The chocolate cake donut was better than I expected. I didn't LOVE it but I look forward to coming back and trying the rest of their donuts until I find one that I do love.

Discovered this spot while researching food places for our PCB trip. I bookmarked it to try. I suggest trying their donuts for sure but during that rush I would not try other items. While driving to our hotel to check in we passed it. It was midday and there was no line but plenty of cars around it. A few days later we decided to go get donuts and a few breakfast sandwiches from here. There were two long lines when we pulled up. We assumed that (A) their donuts/food were awesome and (B) the line was moving fast. At least one of those were right. The line unfortunately was not moving fast. The heat of the sun and abundance of flies worked together to encourage us to give up. But we sucked it up and after about 10 to 20 minutes in line we reached the window. While in line we could see the staff constantly restocking the donuts. The lady was helpful and friendly. We ordered 6-8 donuts and 2 biscuit sandwiches (steak and pork chop). The donuts were bagged immediately and handed to us. Then we were given a ticket for the biscuits and told it would be about 5 minutes. I sat on the benches to the side and waited. After about 8 minutes passed I went over to the pick up window to ask about my food. It took several minutes for anyone to acknowledge me even though I know they all saw me there. When I showed my ticket and asked about my food, the employee realized it had been ready for a while and apologized. The donuts and biscuits were all delicious. I was very uncomfortable with the amount of flies around this place. I assume there were some inside as well.

Best Doughnuts Around - Lunch food is good too We traveled to Panama City Beach for summer vacation just my husband and I. We stayed in a rental house a block from Thomas Donuts and decided to try it for lunch one day while we were on the beach. A short 5 minute walk from our chairs on the beach and we had the best doughnuts we'd ever tasted. The line was long so expect a small wait. We went inside and it was warm inside, but at 95 degrees outside, we expected the heat. We ordered the philly cheesesteak, buffalo chicken sandwich, 2 corns dogs and doughnuts to go. It did take a while to get our food, but it was worth the wait. Both sandwiches were tasty as were the corn dogs. Most of the cashiers are young and not too friendly, but again it was hot and busy. Not a big deal. We would return here for both the doughnuts and the lunch food. If you are anywhere in Panama City Beach, you should definitely try the doughnuts. People were coming in here taking boxes of doughnuts home with them. They have regular doughnuts, flavored, filled, a really great selection. They are soft, sweet, and WONDERFUL.. tripadvisor.com/ShowUser…

I do not wake up early. Morning and I typically agree to leave one another alone and begrudgingly meet around brunch. However, local after local kept recommending Thomas' Donuts and Snacks, aaaand because I have my adorable nephews who love sugary fried dough as much as me, I woke. I travelled the mile up the shore to gather in the lines of friendly folks all eager to glimpse the offerings. For the record, we ended up with two dozen: sour cream, devil's food cake, Red velvet, peaches & cream filled, sprinkles, and sour cream. And two large coffees - for me. I'm in sugar bliss as I type.
(5)Veronica M.
Not worth the wait for mediocre donuts. Maybe I'm spoiled by the specialty donut shops in Houston, but this place was not worth the wait. After a 30 minute wait we finally got to the window excited about our order. How do you mess up coffee at a donut shop?!? My coffee was flavored water at best and luke warm... and I'm not a coffee drinker! We tried their glazed, red velvet, maple bacon, blueberry cake, and smoked sausage kolache. Needless to say the only thing worth trying was the kolache, and that's a Texas specialty. Our next family trip, we'll stick to The Donut Hole.
(1)Robb S.
If you have made it to Thomas donuts then you have found a little slice of heaven. These could be the best donuts in the world. Be prepared to stand in line but you will not be disappointed. Everything is good. Go for breakfast, come for lunch. They have killer burgers!! They will even use donuts for the bun. You have to ask for that. If you come to PCB you have t check out Thomas!!
(5)Judith T.
Great at what they do so expect a wait and think of it as your lucky day if you can walk right up and order. We like to get a box of assorted filled flavors, all are delicious. A visit to PCB wouldn't be complete without it. I see they have added a ice cream place right next to the doughnut place so that is perfect. We have tried their breakfast biscuits for breakfast and their cheeseburgers for lunch when we want a quick bite to get back to the beach. Five Stars!
(5)Blanca E.
Once bitten, twice devoured! ;P On a recent sunny vacay in PCB, we rolled in for some dough. With no line and few cars out front, we knew it wasn't going to be long before that all changed. So we quickly scanned our many options on the board above, received recommendations from the friendly lady behind the counter, and narrowed it down to [only] the following: 2x Red Velvet Cake (aka donut) 2x Blueberry Cake 1x Chocolate Glazed Donut 1x Custard Filled Donut As we waited, the donuts laid out and lined perfectly tempted us from behind the glass. We were also overwhelmed by the scent of grilled items from the back in competition with the nearby beach breeze. Aside from donuts, homemade food items are also available to order here such as hot wings, seafood baskets, chili dogs, burgers, pizza, and even Texas style kolaches - just to name a few. Time was of the essence so we took our box of cake-donuts and hit the road. Miles away, we wished we ordered more, but our waistline was glad we didn't. Every bite was deeeeelicious and devoured slowly. These cakes were fresh, scrumptious, super soft and moist! Make a U-turn! Make a U-turn!! Thomas Donut & Snack Shop is conveniently located roadside so y'alls have no excuses not to stop by here. ;D Come for the donuts at least! You won't regret it. [BTW, the photos don't do these goodies any justice. Ya just have to try them for yourself.]
(5)Sarah C.
This spot is a yearly favorite / tradition for our family. The original donut is perfect, but I also enjoy the creme filled. Local secret: you can go inside to order donuts, rather than standing outside in the heat and the line is shorter.
(5)Wendy B.
This place gets way too much credit. First, we picked a day that the new girl just started and she was working the inside by herself. Poor thing couldn't remember the orders just seconds after taking it and took forever to finish just one order! She couldn't read her register total because light was out so depended on customers to tell her their total to her. When our food was finally ready, after several times of asking about it, let's just say that someone skimped on pork chop for the biscuit and the sausage gravy didn't even cover the biscuit. Definitely won't waste our time on this place again!
(1)Julie C.
Great, fresh donuts! We tried several flavors and liked all of them except for the banana cream. No indoor seating here, but plenty of shaded picnic tables to sit on.
(4)Brian H.
If you're looking for a nice dessert or want a nice snack, Thomas' doughnuts is the place to go. The shop is very efficient in its overall service. The doughnuts aren't too sweet, and yet they still can carry out the flavor you're looking for. The doughnuts are also very fresh. Everyday if you get to the shop early, it's fun to see the mountains of dough about to be turned into delicious treats! Our entire family would all rate this place 5-stars. I would suggest that you check this place out!
(5)Jennifer M.
Got here at 3:30 pm and the doughnuts that were left are AWESOME!!!! Best I have ever had! Totally understand how they have survived over 50 years!!! Going back in the morning!!!
(5)Vi N.
My cousin heard about this place and tried to go around 10:00 AM but there were 2 lines with 15 people in each line so they left. We picked some up for her. At noon on a rainy Sunday, the line wasn't long, maybe 6 people. When it came time to eat, we didn't know which filled donut was which so we tried to remember which order we ordered the donuts. Luckily we guessed correctly and we could kind of tell from the filling hole. The donuts were good, a bit crispy on the outside, soft and a bit mushy inside, and greasy. It's sweet but not too overwhelming. They didn't have red velvet so that was disappointing. I think the cousins are going back tomorrow to get more so hopefully there will be red velvet. All the fillings are very light, no in-your-face flavors. The lemon filled donut tastes like natural lemon, not artificial. It's not too tart. The chocolate filling is a bit more liquidy than I prefer and not too sweet. The blueberry filling was light and refreshing. The custard filling was good. Overall, the ratings from my family range from 2 to 4 stars so it depends on your preference for donuts. If we wanted donuts for breakfast, I'd come back. It's good, but not the best I've ever had. **My cousins went back the next day and got the red velvet donut. It's a cake donut. Tastes like a regular cake donut with a hint of chocolate. Not that "Boom! Red velvet!" flavor I was hoping for with previous reviews.
(3)Maggie T.
Yes, there is usually a line, especially first thing in the morning, but you have a great view of the Gulf while waiting. Doughnuts and the beach...who could ask for more? Order a box of doughnuts and eat as many as you can while sitting at the adjacent picnic tables. They are soooooo good fresh but the take home ones are still delicious. Red velvet and Key Lime are always my top choices.
(5)Jason M.
We go here every time we visit Panama City it is always good... Just get there early so you can get a good choice of donuts
(5)Kelsey S.
If you're ever in PCB, and you don't make the trip down to get these donuts... You are making a mistake. These are some of the best I've ever had! Especially the red velvet.
(5)Christina V.
Worth the wait! This is one of those cool places that you hear about from "locals" and it gathers all the tourist attention so there is always a line out the door. These donuts are like the best combination of Dunkin and Krispy Kreme. They are oh-so-moist and flavorful. There are plenty of options to choose from. You have to get at least one of the classic glazed because honestly, it's the best glazed doughnut I've ever had. I also had the blueberry cake. You can taste the freshness. They have several flavors for their filled doughnuts including peaches-n-cream and key lime pretty. I'm not a big fan of filled so I didn't try them but in the 35 minutes I waited I watched box upon box get filled with them so they must be good. The coffee was just OK. I heard from a regular they have great biscuits and breakfast sandwiches but I was there for doughnuts. I got what I came for and was completely satisfied. YUM!
(4)Ashley M.
I found this place on Yelp and after reading all the great reviews, my party and I decided we had to stop here to try some doughnuts! An interesting set up, this place is definitely more of a shack than a restaurant. Walk up to the counter and you can see all the available donuts right before you, along with a simple menu that doesn't look like it's been changed for ages. I ordered two custard doughnuts and they were simply fantastic! I devoured an entire doughnut before we even got back to the condo. Eat these fresh and they will definitely melt in your mouth and leave you craving more. So delicious, such a gem!
(4)Todd R.
A classic donut shop with great customer service. The red velvet cake donut is amazing and their biscuit sandwiches are tasty. You can't go wrong with Thomas Donuts!
(5)Dane P.
Great donuts that are different than most. The chocolate cake and sour cream ones are delicious.
(5)Natalie M.
I need to help bring the rating to 5 stars! I don't do donuts but I finally cracked and got a donut when my friend stopped here. EUPHORIC donuts!!!!! Fluffy, moist ridiculous cake donuts. I'm gonna go every Friday now and run my buns off in between. WORTH IT. Hey, don't overdo it folks. If you're gonna indulge, let it be quality like this!
(5)Lauren M.
Best donuts around the beach!! Have to go there more than once each time I am down there!!! Great food also!! I have to tell everyone about this place.
(5)Jason D.
DONUTS. And these are "as good as it gets." Don't walk, run here if you're in the area. The donuts are tasty, the prices are fair, and.... DONUTS.
(5)R H.
One of the best hot dogs I've ever eaten. Don't take that last statement lightly, as a big guy I have eaten hotdogs from every cart, stand, and restaurant that I've been to where it was the "specialty" We had the footlong chili cheese dogs with slaw on top... UNBELIEVEABLE!!!! Delicious and we will be back... We did not eat anything else, nor did I want anything else. But everything else we saw come out of the window looked awesome too. Not fancy, just good
(4)Gene C.
Friendly staff and the food is great! The doughnuts are so fresh and tasty!!! Good selection to choose from all day long. My favorite is Peaches and Cream ;)
(5)Thomas K.
Thomas is one of my favorite places in the world. I'm in PCB one week out of the year and I make sure to come to Thomas at least three times each week. The donuts are incredible, particularly the blueberry cake and red velvet. Also, try the smoked sausage kolache for a change up. Lunch selection is really good as well, try the buffalo chicken sandwich.
(5)Karl V.
Can't give any stars since I can't get anyone on the phone to take my order. The only reason the is one star is I can't post without leaving a rating
(1)Terri W.
Doughnuts were delicious, some of the best I've ever had. The line was long and the girl working the line I was in was servicing 2 windows. I will be back.
(5)Mandy R.
So gooood! We order donuts and two hotdogs. Would def come back!serviced wasn't all that wonderful but it was worth it!
(4)Shannon S.
Been going there for years, great locally owned spot right on the beach.been there since 1971, and delicious!!
(5)DeVon T.
This was worth the hype. I left my villa to get there when they opened at 6AM. The red velvet donut was like none I have ever eaten in my life. It was so moist and decadent. I was also a fan of the sour cream donut, it was flaky and moist as well. My friends also love the blueberry and strawberry donuts. They were so good, I took a half dozen back to Jacksonville for my partner who couldn't make the trip.
(5)Patrick M.
One of my favorite breakfast stops!! Donuts are awesome and they have the best breakfast biscuits!!!
(5)Steve N.
I grew up going here when we would be at the beach. I have not been in probably ten years, but this place is killer! Better get there early or no apple fritters will be left!
(5)Keith K.
They have the best doughnuts, the are actually better than KK to me. I was never a fan of Key lime anything but their Key lime doughnuts are awesome.
(5)Elle E J.
Go early!! This isn't the 'best kept secret' donut shop in PCB anymore like it was 10-20 years ago.. But the donuts are still the same great quality. You won't find the overly sweet, cringeworthy sugar overload donuts here. They have just the right amount of sweet (get glazed, iced, or filled for more and cake for less) and the perfect consistency of light airiness that you should expect from a donut. They have a nice, almost flaky, crisp outside and soft, moist inside. I highly recommend the blueberry or red velvet. But again I stress, go early or carve out some time for your trip. Also, the burgers are greasy and delicious.
(5)Karen B.
At 8:30 a.m. on a weekday morning the line was around 20 minutes. We ordered a dozen donuts, including red velvet, chocolate glazed, chocolate cake, glazed, strawberry filled and sourdough. Despite how late we arrived, there was still a big selection available. They were very good donuts and we polished them off in no time! They're comparable to Donut Hole in Destin.
(4)Robyb S.
Can't go wrong. Biscuits are great and donuts are better. Be prepared to wait in line. The line is sometimes shorter inside...but still always a line. Enjoy!!;
(5)Jason M.
I stood in line 20 minutes with only 3 people ahead of me just to order. My oyster burger was good and the wife enjoyed her cheeseburger. The onion rings that were crispy were great but some were soggy. This would probably be a 4 star review if not for the ordering wait.
(3)Clay C.
Best donuts on planet earth. When I was young (more decades ago than I care to admit), my dad brought me here in our almost annual pilgrimage to PCB. Years passed and the trips unfortunately stopped, but after 20 years I returned to PCB this week. Thomas Donut & Snack Shop hasn't changed a bit. It beats the heck out of any chain shop.
(5)Mike L.
Homemade fast food breakfast or lunch.
(5)Christina S.
Yum! Our rental house was one block from this place and they open at 6am! The smell of donuts in the air was great. We were happy with all the flavor we tried. If the line looks long outside, just go inside to the other window. There is indoor seating as well as outdoor picnic tables...or walk across the street to the beach!
(4)Frank W.
Old school PCB, and a must see for sure.
(5)Rodney S.
Stopped for donuts in the morning. They were great. Stopped by for supper that night. Great bacon cheeseburger and fish and chips. Topped off with hand dipped ice cream cones. Mmmmm good. Sure beats yucky overpriced food downtown. My family and I will stop here again.
(5)P M.
Donuts are really good. Also had lunch there. Food was plentiful and tasted pretty good. Great spot right across from the beach.
(4)C L.
We went because of the great reviews. We got there before 8 and the line was long. There's 5 of us- three of us gave a 2/5 and 2 gave a 4/5. Definitely not the best doughnuts we've had. The best doughnuts is still from Pitman Bakery in Pitman, NJ which unfortunately have closed.
(3)Sarah H.
Our family absolutely LOVES Thomas Donuts!! We get donuts for breakfast at least three times each time we visit Panama City Beach. The apple fritter, key lime filled, red velvet cake, and sour cream donuts are my favorites. We have tried pretty much all of them though and they are all delicious! You will need to call the day before to get an apple fritter during the summer though. They sell out fast and for good reason!!
(5)Abigail J.
When we arrived the line for donuts was huge! The wait in line was worth it, the donuts were absolutely great! All 6 of the people in our party ate 2 donuts each because they were so good! I personally enjoyed the red velvet donut and the chocolate glazed donut. I would definitely come here again!
(5)Ed A.
Dangerously awesome!
(4)Lilly S.
This place is so good. It's a little roadside stand across from the beach. AMAZING DONUTS!!!
(4)Brian B.
Awesome. Donuts are fresh and a great variety. But try the breakfast biscuits. Homemade with chicken, bacon, eggs or whatever. And the price is right!
(5)Travis B.
Donuts were good but nothing special. Coffee was okay. Definitely better than the chains overall
(4)Jennifer R.
Love the donuts service was wonderful. Thanks to yelp we beat the lines bc when we walked at out 6:30 a.m it was long line. will go back again when we go back to the beach. Even my grumpy 13 year old who hates mornings was happy after a donut here.
(5)Travis B.
First time visit, inside was packed but ordered outside didn't take long food was ready fast. There was 6 of us 5 had cheeseburger & fries, other had philly steak sandwich. All were good, we ate outside and prices were about normal for beachside. Will definitely go again.
(5)Lisa C.
Great donuts, but be prepared to wait and wait and wait! Not very efficient with taking and filling orders. Five stars for the food, but one star for inefficiency.
(3)Clethra M.
Insanely AWESOME!!!!! Came to Panama City for the first time and we drove around for hours looking for something to eat besides SEAFOOD & PIZZA and finally we took a chance and I can truly say it was the only thing I will remember about Panama City.
(5)Daniel P.
Today is July 4, 2013. For those here today, you know the weather was unforgiven from early morning forward. I got here at 7:30. The rain came in sideways, with 40 mph gusts. There were about 20 people in the outside line. Inside line appeared to have double. I mention this as the way to support the wait's worth, even in such conditions. Two dozen delectable creations - both simple/traditional and intricate/novel. Top notch. Evident pride in output. Cohesive staff. Cheerful disposition. This is the sort of tradition each of our communities need (back home). Bravo.
(5)Jeremy L.
Love this place. Great donuts and the location is killer. Nothing bets grabbing some donuts and walking over to the beach. Their hours changed and they will be open 7 days a week and until about 11pm.
(5)Josh S.
Depends on what you are wanting at this place. Donuts - awesome! Pizza and burgers - average. Couple of other things I want to try on the menu but the donuts alone make it worth a visit. Be prepared for long lines in the mornings!
(4)Carlos G.
Sure it's a little $$$ but considering you're on the beach it's fine. The malt and biscuit with sausage gravy are out of this world. And don't get me started on the delish donuts! Great beach dive! They've been at that location since 1958.
(5)Barbara H.
Average doughnuts-the cake doughnuts were good. Apple fritter was doughy/undercooked in the center. Prefer Dan-D-Doughnuts for quality.
(3)Jordan C.
Love the fresh made doughnuts! Better to call ahead & place an order for pick up during the summer time because they stay so busy all season.
(5)Justin W.
According to what I saw when I got there, they mostly have one type of donut that they use to fill with multiple different flavors. I had a few different flavor fillings and loved each one of them. These donuts are super fresh and delicious. My mouth is watering now about a month after as I'm typing this. I really like donuts and other baked goods. These are certainly worth a visit/short trip.
(5)Vanitha S.
The most precious roadside snack shop that I've ever been to! After a lucky recommendation by the owners of the Nostalgic B&B down the street, we came over here to get our donut fixing. And ooooh we are glad we did! Red velvet for me and chocolate for hubby. They sadly ran out of the key lime pie donut which I heard was the best on the menu but we also went late afternoon so we avoided the crowds (but missed the key lime pie). We inhaled our donuts and then went back to get 2 more for the road! Best donuts i've ever had, hands down. They had all kinds of other snack-y things and yes most of it is bad for you (fried seafood baskets, fries, etc) but don't care--you're on vacation! (unless you're a snow bird...but still, just enjoy!). We also had grilled chicken sandwiches which were very good too. You will leave here with a smile on your face. :)
(5)Josh S.
My favorite part of PCB! Just close your eyes and point to any donut. They're all good. They do handmade cake-style donuts here and everybody loves them. The lines are crazy but worth it. If you want to avoid them then either get there at 6am or go at lunch before they close and pick up some donuts for the next day. Their burgers are the best around as well so just keep going all week until you leave.
(5)Martin M.
The best Kolaches I have found outside of Texas. The Sausage jalapeño kolaches are the best. Makes for a great lunch too, but get there early as they run out early. Love this place.
(4)Chrissy M.
Yelped a breakfast/snack shop after arriving and Thomas Donut and Snack Shop had good reviews. We liked it but I wasn't wowed. I'd go again.
(3)Jonah H.
I love this place! Awesome donuts and good food on the beach. They have really good corndogs, great tasting burgers, and the most awesome donuts ever made. The red velvet donuts and blueberry donuts are my favorites. This place stays busy most all the time so show up early.
(5)Joann M.
Thomas' is not just a donut shop. Although we enjoyed the variety of donuts our 1st morning in PCB, we also enjoyed the burger & fries, etc. we brought back to the condo for a beach-side lunch. Great tasting beach food & all three visits we encountered VERY friendly attendants.
(5)Jill W.
Great donuts but RUDE people behind the counter!! We stopped here to try their kolaches but girl taking our order said they were out of them and they were only for breakfast (?)...then one of us ordered a donut with sprinkles and girl said they were out. We proceeded to walk over and point out they had a full tray of them. If you don't mind being treated rudely and getting your food practically thrown at you it might be worth trying! Donuts are ONLY reason to go.
(2)Janet S.
11.00am off season weekday, no line - just us, they just sold out of kolaches so we opted for a Cinnamon donut and a key lime donut. Nothing special but it went down nicely with our Hunch Punch on the beach. Super nice girl at the window.
(3)Pete R.
Donuts are good, not great. The custard flavored are top notch, but the cake donutes are missing something. A bit overrated IMO, but definitely the best you're going to get in any close proximity in that area.I will defintely be back, but I think the reviews from some raised my expectations. Preffered the donuts at the Donut Hole down the road closer to 30A
(4)Steve F.
Yeah, the freakn donuts are very good and fresh. I especially liked the blueberry jelly. I will say this though.... The employees are slower than turtles. Holy crap I can make my own donuts in the time it takes to get served here. Of course it doesn't help that you have a bunch of fat Americans in line in front of you ordering donuts, breakfast sandwiches, and Pepsis for breakfast. Or perhaps it is my bad luck always picking the wrong line. Either way, I feel it is worth checking them out. I'm here in PCB for a couple more days and will probably go back one more time before heading home.
(4)Wes S.
Best doughnuts I've ever had . As a family we tried several different kinds of doughnuts . All of them were excellent and very fresh . We didn't try anything else except doughnuts . The line was quite long but worth the wait in my opinion .
(5)Alvis W.
Had breakfast here. We had a long wait and they were running out of doughnuts. I was lucky to get one of the last lemon filled.
(4)James T.
Food = 2 (This place is terrible... it's pre-made burger is not good) Price = 2 Experience = 2 (The servers are young disheveled and slow. The outdoor seating area is horribly dirty with trash pouring over the top of the can and all over the ground. The tables look like they have never ever been wiped down... ever) I know there's not much around this part of the strip... just keep driving, it's not worth it.
(2)Matt E.
I've been eating at Thomas Donut for many years now... Since first being exposed to this shack many, many years ago, it has been a staple - and someplace that I proudly have carried guests to demonstrate that I am in 'the know' of what's good in PCB. The wife and I came down this past week for a few days and Thomas delivered again (and again, and again, and again - I think that I/we went 7 times over 3 days in all)... I've previously only sampled the donut offerings (the White Cream Long John is great - my wife is ADDICTED to the sour cream donut), but this time we opted for a late lunch and got some seafood. My wife ordered the shrimp sub and I ordered the fried oyster box - both were FANTASTIC! Now I know and so do you - Thomas is just great food (not just for donuts) :)
(5)Tim C.
One of the best doughnut shops around....Even if you aren't staying on the west end of the beach, it's worth the drive.....
(5)Shane W.
Really great donuts here but be prepared to wait in a very long line. Others will rush out just as early as you to beat you there so the earlier the better! Plus you don't want your favorite donut selling out after the wait. Speaking of favorite, you must try the white cream filled and orange cream filled donuts, they're really amazing! I'm from Atlanta and we have some really good donut shops around here but my wife and I always compare them to this place. Once again, don't get scared of the line and leave, you'll be missing out!

This is a great place to pickup fresh, hand made dobuts and colaches. We would highly recommend visiting at least once while at the beach.

Three words - Key. Lime. Donut. Unbelievably delicious!! Our condo was just up the street on El Reposo and I walked by here every morning for an entire week. The fact that I only gained 2 lbs. during vacation doesn't mean the donuts were bad, it just means I walked a LOT! The smell alone is worth standing in line and on a good day I could smell it from the beach. There's always a line, so be prepared for that. I had the devil's food, cinnamon twist (3x!!), key lime, lemon, peach. So tasty, light, fresh. Also had the biscuits and gravy twice. Worth every second of the wait. Pricing is very reasonable.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Thomas Donuts!!! We were HUGE Donut Hole fans, but on a recent trip to PCB, we decided to check out this recommendation from a friend on Facebook. Didn't possibly think they could beat Donut Hole's (Santa Rosa, Fl.) great donuts, but we were wrong!!! Best donuts ever, hands down!!! I should mention we did a comparision by visiting both places during our vacation to be sure. What was even better is we were surprised to find out the breakfast biscuits are fantastic also and very reasonably priced. Really enjoyed the sausage biscuit. Had five over the course of a week and added scrambled eggs and cheese on the last visit (which made it even better). Kids really enjoyed the chicken biscuit and the Misses found the egg and cheese to be silky smooth. I don't really go for the fru-fru donuts. Plain glazed works just fine for me, but my wife ordered an assortment of different donuts and I hafta give high marks to the orange juice donut and also the strawberry filled. I'm so happy I don't have to do that 45 minute drive from PCB to Donut Hole anymore to enjoy a good donut. Can't wait to come back and try their lunch menu.
(5)Morgan M.
This place has very good donuts and even though they had a long line, i was very impressed with their donuts though.
(4)Grady J.
Great place to start the early morning. Good family atmosphere. The jalapeno sausage cheese kolaches are amazing.
(4)Betty P.
Best donuts ever! I have to have their sour cream donuts every time we go to PCB. My husband goes for the blueberry and the rest of the group get a variety. I have only gone for takeout donuts for breakfast but that is the best :-)
(5)Matthew E.
I drove from the end of Thomas Drive last year to check this donut place out. It was early in the morning and when I arrived there was a line outside in the rain. I decided to stand out there since the reviews were so good. The donuts tasted like something out of convenience store that had been sitting out all day. What a disappointment and a waste of calories. I'll stick with K.K.
(1)David W.
Long lines but worth the wait. Came around 8:45 a.m. and had about a 25 minute wait. We got some chocolate iced, red velvet, chocolate cake regular donuts. We also got strawberry, blueberry, chocolate, peaches and cream and key lime filled. They were all excellent. They are so busy that you are almost guaranteed to get fresh ones because they are constantly refreshing the stock. Check this place out. It is west from PCB.
(5)Robbie G.
The donuts are really good and was the closest place to the condo on front beach. I saw the reviews and said I have to see if this is right and it very good and cheap
(4)Allie M.
My family always stops by Thomas' when we visit the beach. Their donuts are the best. Unless you hit them at a really great time, you'll probably have to stand in line for a while. But the donuts make the wait all worth it.
(5)Gary P.
Donuts were great and there "Texas style" kolaches were the best I have ever had and yes they are as good as the ones in West Texas....
(5)mike n.
Amazing donuts. The line dorms quick as we were there at 7am and there were about 10 people in line already. Red velvet donuts are smack you grand mother good. Key lime filled is a must. I didn't get to try them but I heard they have good breakfast sandwiches also.
(4)Eddie C.
Best donuts and breakfast food, make sure you get here early. It's definitely worth the wait.
(5)Michele C.
I went to Thomas' based on the donut reviews and it did not disappoint. I arrived very early around 6am maybe to try to beat the line. They had 1 line open and there were about 20 people in front of me and within 15 minutes there were another 20 people behind me. They did eventually open another line. It was worth the wait. The cake donuts were very good, but I was on a mission to get the filled donuts with the flavors you can't get anywhere else. They were extremely fresh, and glazed, rather than iced, although I did see the traditional cream filled donuts with icing. Our assortment included the following fillings: key lime, peaches & cream, orange cream, and blueberry. They were all delicious, but we highly recommend the key lime and the orange cream. I would go back and wait in line here anytime.
(5)Carrie S.
We had Thomas Donuts while visiting my parents in PC. We tried the kolaches, biscuits and different donuts. The only thing I didn't like was the sausage in the kolaches, thought it was too thick. Otherwise the donuts and biscuits were good and fresh. Lines were long so be prepared to wait a bit. A good find.
(4)Matt F.
Good doughnuts, but nothing special in my view. The bread part has a nice flavor, but the doughnuts seem small compared to other places. A little overpriced as well. You can get better bang for your buck at the Walmart bakery.
(3)Terry D.
Fresh and delicious. That is all! (Expect long lines. Good stuff but no "VooDoo Donuts!")
(4)Shelli R.
Hands down the best doughnuts you will ever taste. Can't get enough.
(5)Jacob P.
Ok. I don't know what it is about the gulf area and their donuts. Thomas donuts are great, I would give them 4.7 stars if I could, because they actually deserve better than 4 stars. Only reason I do not give them 5 stars is because I think the Donut Hole edges them just slightly for reasons I cannot determine, personal prejudice? The only donut I did not like was the vanilla cream, it had a tangy taste to it. The best donuts were, the key lime, orange juice(I know, but it is good), blueberry cake, long john custard, chocolate cream filled was a light chocolate that was really good. The donuts are of great quality, you can taste the yeast in the dough. The glaze is just right. Most parking places will be taken. There will be two lines when you drive up. Go inside if you see all the lines. I walked right past the lines to NO wait. I asked the girl at the register if this was ok. She said that it is actually encouraged for more people to come inside rather than to wait outside in line. She said that they ask people all the time to come inside and order, but they just stay out there. I walked out with my box of donuts and mentioned that to them and for some reason they just wanted to wait out there. lol. I think one guy went inside when I said it was ok. CHECK it out. Devoured the donuts. Did not try any breakfast. Will try to go to breakfast and give that 5th star before we leave. :)
(4)Just C.
Good! Red velvet, creamy peach, key lime to name a few. update: yep! still good....still long lines. its all good!
(5)Roxi N.
Several live flies seen flying around customers food, waiting to be served, and around the uncovered donuts in the window. A huge sickening turn off especially when brought to their attention and they didn't seem concerned by continuing to serve the fly buzzed donuts anyway to get their profit. Yuck! They should cover the donuts and other foods to protect customers health from flies but choose not to. Live flies around food is a violation in NE FL's eating establishments but I guess it isn't in PCB.
(1)Mike C.
This is my first "local" spot! Just moved here and I love this place!! Get there early or the donuts will be gone!
(4)Brett L.
This place is awesome. Excellent hamburgers. Kolaches just like in Texas. Worth the wait.
(5)Heather B.
WASTE. OF. TIME. It took their staff approximately 4-5 per person to complete an order, for Donuts. When they constantly have lines and are busy in the morning, you would expect them to want to hurry customers through. We waited in line about 40 minutes before we decided to leave, go to the store, and go home. I do not wish to spend my vacation time in line at 7am.
(1)Bridget C.
Best donuts ever!!! Way better than the donut truck on 30a...
(5)Michael S.
When I'm on a beach vacation I look with admiration upon those of us who show the dedication to lace up their shoes, wake up early and go for that run on the beach. That shows commitment. At the same time I have this strange, smart-alecky desire to sit right in front of them, on the beach, with a huge box of calorie laden donuts and munch them in my vacationy bliss. If I ever get around to doing that, I want my box of donuts to be from Thomas Donut & Snack Shop. This small donut shop (which looked more like a donut stand) is in a quieter part of PCB. It is small, old-timey and unpretentious. There was a line for donuts outside in the early morning sun... they were worth the wait. We brought back 24 donuts. Blueberry, chocolate cake, devil's food cake, red velvet. All good. They had some interesting filled donuts, like Peaches and Cream and Key Lime. The actual donut on those two varieties had a yeasty flavor to them (not bad, but not what I am used to) and fillings were good even if they left an artificial feel in your mouth. Their special of the day was an orange juice donut, which I ordered not sure of how it would be as I'm funny about fruit flavored sweets and I thought it might be too gimmicky. By far my favorite donut of the day with a great sweet and citrusy balance. I eat donuts at the beach, but this donut actually felt and tasted "beachy." Those donuts didn't last long once they got back to the condo. All in all Thomas Donuts is going to be a regular stop for me on all of my future trips to PCB. Your orange juice donut turned this "Doubting Thomas" into a believer.
(4)Vince P.
4.5 stars. *drool*... donuts.... No crappy chain donuts here. They had it all! Creme filled Long Johns, multiple types of jelly filled donuts, cake donuts, glazed donuts....mmmm...donuts.... We ate three dozen donuts in a day and a half. My favorite was the Key Lime filled followed closely by a berry jelly and the creme filled long john's. Don't be a tourist and wait at the window. Go inside for fast friendly service. Everything fresh and delicious. Wish I could have tried some snacks for lunch. Bottom line: YOU need to go here!
(4)Three B.
Pretty good donuts, but the service was horrible. It felt like I was bothering her to get my order and when I did make my selections she made several mistakes and a few I didn't even catch until I opened the box. The coffee wasn't anything worth while either. I enjoyed the donuts and "local" feel to the place, but the initial atmosphere that we were exposed to ruined the rest of it. Luckily the donuts taste good, but I would search for somewhere else if I was in the area again.
(2)Rod H.
If you want really good donuts this is the place to go. They make great donuts! We had Red Velvet and key lime filled and both were excellent. We went on a Sunday morning and this place was packed. Everyone was standing in line to get donuts to take home from vacation. I never thought I would wait that long for donuts but I was glad I did,
(4)Fletcher R.
We never got to try the donuts. Note that on Wednesdays, they are closed. We drove over thirty miles in the pouring rain just to get to a CLOSED donut place. We got there about an hour after opening time, and they open at 6. Do the math. If it took us 30 minutes to get there and 30 minutes to get ready, thats an hour. An hour before seven in six. We got up at six to go to a "wonderful CLOSED donut shack!!" I bet you're wondering why we didn't look at the website. Well we looked at the hours that said 6am-3pm every day! But if you look at the "About Us!" paragraph, you'll find that it says in parenthesis, (we are not open on Wednesdays.) So I can't tell ya' on the food, so that's all I gotta say.
(2)Cory P.
I'm not a donut girl.... BUT these are AMAZING! Any filling you can think of (try the peach!) and regular options as well. Fresh made and sold at the cutest little beach front building. But get there early because if you wait too long you will end up waiting too long... we drove by one morning to see the line wrapped around the parking lot. We also at lunch here one day... perfect cheap beachy lunch and a great casual place for families. Burgers were a great size and their chicken sandwich was fabulous and the prices were far more reasonable than anything else on Front Beach Rd. We will return the next time we are in town!
(5)Kelly M.
A trip to PCB is not complete without a Thomas donut! We love them so much, we served them out our wedding! Be sure to get there early, so you can grab a cinnamon twist!!
(5)Joy B.
I can't believe I've been coming to PCB for over 20 years and have never stumbled upon Thomas Donuts. Boy am I glad we did this trip. Tried the Red Velvet and Key Lime upon the recommendations of other helpers. Red Velvet was delicious while Key Lime's filling was a little artificial tasting. Definitely agree with the other Yelper's tip about going in the side door. The service was faster and you can wait in the air conditioning!
(4)Hannah H.
We got there at 10:00 am on a Saturday and there was only 3 cake flavors left. We got the orange juice and regular, and two biscuits. The orange juice was really good!! The regular cake was dry. I've had much better biscuits though, however we're from north GA so we're use to different style biscuits. The biscuit were greasy and couldn't really taste the biscuit for the greasy taste. The eggs were egg beaters, no real eggs. The girl who took our order never smiled once, but she wasn't rude, just didn't seem happy to be there. The other girls were very friendly though. Overall I gave this 2 stars, it wasn't somewhere I would make a must of on our next visit to PCB.
(2)Kelly R.
We have been in PCB for 5 or so days, two of them we spent enjoying fresh donuts and amazing biscuits from here. One morning we even stood in line in the rain. Thomas has the best blueberry cake donut I've ever had. (and I live in walking distance to Round Rock Donuts) I've never tried their regular glazed donuts but I'm pretty sure I've had every version of the cake donuts. The Boyfriend tried the key lime filled one and said it was delicious. It's hard to decide whether the donuts or the biscuits are better. I guess that's why I always get both. On our way out of town tomorrow we will be taking some back to Texas to share with family. The staff is always friendly and the people in line are too.
(5)Mark O.
For almost 30 years we have come here and let me say the donuts are awesome. However, the last 2 years that I have ordered a filled donut such as a long john or a chocolate filled donut there has been nothing in it,,,, Today we ordered 2 chocolate filled and there was nothing in it, I went back and spoke to someone and they made me 2 more and you know what?? Less than a teaspoon in both of them combined. I didnt go back and I will return but I am done with anything creme filled. Also got an apple fritter and for the first time it didnt have one single apple chip in it. I hope that this was just a bad day but, again the donuts are awesome but we will just be staying away from the ones that cost the most where you get the least! I am sad about this tradition for us turning bad
(2)Scott B.
Stopped here at 10 a.m. on on Thursday and thought we would not have any issues with service. The place was packed and the olny donuts they had available were 2 kinds of filled ones. My wife asked if she could get a chocolate covered glazed donut and she said they were out. So we decided to order 2 ham egg and cheese biscuits. Before they were done making our order the girl was serving glazed donuts and took an order for 6 chocolate covered glazed donuts, WTF? Very disappointing. I gave it 3 stars because the buiscuits were ok, but the service was lacking and it was disappointing that they did not staff ti properly to fill the demand for donuts. We will not be going back.
(3)Annalena W.
For a quick and inexpensive breakfast, this is a must stop. Service is excellent. If you want a particular flavor of donut, you must go early. The egg cheese biscuit was yummy. My favorite donut was the cinnamon twist. You just can beat 4.25 for a small coffee, egg cheese biscuit and a donut. We enjoyed walking there each day, but I would drive if it was not as close.
(5)Ben H.
This is an institution. It is a local gem that should be treasured. It's sort of at the end of PCB, but it's definitely worth a drive or bike ride. It's a low-key operation that has stuck to its guns and done the same thing successfully for a long time. Cool, old timey feel to the place. Great homemade doughnuts and generic fast food that's well executed. Keep small businesses like this alive! 4.5
(5)Wendy T.
Great donuts! Love the outdoor walk up counter for easy in and out!
(4)Amy T.
After reading all of the 5 star reviews, I was practically drooling while waiting on my friend to pick up a dozen and bring them back to our condo. When the donuts arrived, I loved the little pink box they were in and was so excited to get to try what so many people have raved about! Unfortunately, I was a bit underwhelmed with those that I tried. We had a selection of jelly-filled, chocolate covered cake, red velvet, devils food, powdered sugar and cinnamon sugar. I had a bite of several of them, and I thought all were good, but nothing to obsess over. Since my friend was picking them up on the way to our place, I did not get to see their menu of available donuts, so perhaps I would have chosen different ones, and maybe would have enjoyed them more?? Next time we're at the beach, we'll try them again but will probably go in person to do the ordering.
(3)Sandi A.
The single BEST donuts I have EVER eaten. Combine that with the fact that they have been around since 1961 and you get to eat on weather beaten tables looking out at the ocean. Friendly workers who remember you the second day you come! Try the fritters, key lime donuts and peaches and cream. These donuts are sooo good that my best friend and I made a pact NEVER ever to eat another donut anywhere else! emptynestart.wordpress.c…

This place was outstanding. The whole time we were in PCB, we were in search of some decent seafood. All the other places had generic, overpriced food that was all dipped in the same batter and deep fried in the same oil and all came out tasting exactly the same. It was gross. Thankfully, on our way out of town, we decided to stop at Thomas' Donut and Snack Shop and grab a bite. The boyfriend got the fried shrimp box that came with fries and a side of coleslaw. I opted for the oyster burger & fries, and we split a cruller and a peach-filled donut. The shrimp were amazing! Fresh, crispy, and flavorfull-- they actually tasted like delicious shrimp, not like fried nothing dipped in a disgusting batter; Bb far the best we had while we were in town. The construction of my oyster burger left something to be desired. From the name, I was expecting something like a patty. In reality, it was like an oyster po-boy on a hamburger bun. Still delicious, but I could have used a few more oysters on there. The oysters themselves were fried to perfection and tasted like the ocean. Delicious. The fries were hot, crispy and gone in less than 5 minutes. Neither one of us cared for the coleslaw. I thought it tasted like someone threw some cabbage in a bucket of salt water and then lightly coated it with mayonnaise. But then coleslaw is such a regional, personal thing, I can't fault them too much. The donuts were outstanding. They were sweet without being overpoweringly sugary, and were cooked to just the right consistency-- somewhere between slightly doughy and slightly crispy. The cruller was the only delicious cruller I have ever eaten in my life. It was light and airy-- a completely different species from the heavy sugar pucks you find at Krispy Kreme. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this place. We will definitely visit them again next time we're in PCB. I can't wait to try their other menu items and have another helping of those delicious shrimp. They're only open from 6AM-3PM and have a limited supply of donuts, so get there early if you want fist choice of the popular flavors. You can dine inside the building or on their patio that faces the dunes, OR they have a snack stand (hence the name) that you can walk up to.
(5)John D.
been visiting Thomas's at this site since it was an ice house where they took a block of ice and turned it into crushed ice then put in a waxed paper bag. See the painting inside current Donut shop of what this looked like back then.
(5)Wes D.
I've had donuts from Krispey Kreme, Dunkin, and even Portland's famous Voodoo Donuts, but Thomas's is hands down the best I've ever had. It's one of my favorite places on Earth.
(5)Kim M.
Delicious doughnuts. They are simply the best and taste amazing.
(4)Autumn P.
Delicious!!!! We got an assortment of different doughnuts and everyone enjoyed them all! Little pricey for doughnuts, but well worth it. The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but they got something good going on inside;-)). Have read good reviews about this place and tried it due to positive feedback on yelp. They're right, it's good...fresh baked sweetness!
(5)Bruce S.
Excellent doughnuts. Loved the key lime filled. I definitely will go back.
(4)Gloria B.
Excellent hot bagel with sausage, egg & cheese. Donuts were good also.
(5)Travis B.
it was rainy and dreary, but the sky shone upon this ratty little donut shop on the side of the road. we nearly crashed making a u-turn to stop and grab a tasty snack here but oh....the warm, fluffy goodness! the glazed chocolate and/or cinammon were enough to melt away any sadness from all the rain. too bad we were saving room for dinner or we would've tried all several dozen of the varieties!!!!
(5)Matt O.
Thomas' Donuts are the bomb. Get the Key Lime!
(5)Eric E.
The fried oysters here are awesome. They were some of the best this reviewer has enjoyed. The fish and chips are good too. The donuts are very good. The key lime and raspberry were excellent, but our chocolate filled for our son was under filled. The restaurant itself is a shack on the beach with outdoor and air conditioned indoor sitting. Neither are impressive, but it's exactly what I'm looking for in a dive on the beach with great food. It was a fun place to eat and we'll be going back on our next visit to PCB.
(5)Adam H.
May be the best donuts on the planet. These donuts are my favorite part about going to the beach.
(5)Anita AJ W.
Have you ever had a Red Velvet Donut????? If not when in Panama City Beach...this is the place!!! Fresh and fluffy and full of flavor!!! Also had their Shrimp box! Loaded with shrimp fresh from the ocean which is under 50 feet away...ate there and then combed the beach for shells and had a photo shoot~~~ too funny! Thomas Donut & Snack Shop! Friendly service great food and prices....a dozen came back to Atlanta!!!
(4)D R.
Yum! Pick out a variety of one of anything that appeals to you. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. If you like cinnamon, be sure to get a cinnamon cake donut. The best ever.
(5)Amanda S.
The donuts were awesome. We walked away with 2 dozen to take back to our condo. Our favorites were the blueberry cake, red velvet, devil's food, and orange juice, but there were none left.
(5)Noel C.
O.M.G. i just returned from a week at the redneck riviera with a friend who is also a co-worker and former rollergirl. our agenda was to sleep in, lay on the beach all day, then drink at night. when she told me about thomas', i was skeptical. only because it would mean breaking our "don't get out of bed before 10 am" rule. boy, was it worth it! here's why: red velvet cake donut key lime filled donut i'm pretty sure one or both of these would be on my last meal list. YUM!!!
